2015 Top 100 Retailer

“Good speciality retailers don’t just sell gear, they inspire people to actually go outside and use it.”

For the second year in a row we were awarded Top 100 retailer by Outdoor Magazine, the magazine that recognizes leading independent, outdoor and active specialty and retail businesses for their outstanding work and entrepreneurial drive.

What makes us stand out from the crowd?

We know you can get product anywhere, but we take an interest in your passions and pursuits, and listen when you tell us what you need, what you are looking for. We love helping you help select top-notch outerwear and the ultimate adventure gear made so you can get outside more.

In fact, we can tell you the difference between Marmot’s PreCip jacket and Patagonia’s Torrentshell, and have you talk with a staff member who has put both on trial, either out in the elements, or at the company’s onsite testing facility.

Each season we round up the latests trends and styles made by brands that build their products responsibly. We share industry news and community events to keep you connected. And if you want tips on how to find the best local trails, races or microbrewery, we’ve got that covered too.

Our goal: Outfitting your free time so you can dive into one of your wildest adventures, or slide into some of life’s uncomplicated joys.

10 reasons why shopping at TCO makes a difference to you and to the community:

From season to season, you can rely on Trail Creek Outfitters to bring you the best that the outdoor industry has to offer. We’re here with all your gear no matter what adventure you’re about to take on.

Here are 10 reasons why shopping at TCO makes a difference to you and to the community:

1—We carry Brands That Care, which follow responsible, sustainable and fair trade practices. Several of our products are also Made in the U.S.A.

2—Winner of The North Face’s first Never Stop Exploring Award that recognizes a specialty dealer that has the most impact strengthening their community by encouraging outdoor exploration.

3—Gives back to the community by offering grants to get kids outside through summer camps at Brandywine Valley Association, Ashland Nature Center, The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County and Stroud Water Research Center. Trail Creek also sponsors local events including the BVA’s Polar Plunge, TLC Hootenany Hoedown & Wild West Saloon and the Natural Lands Trust’s Lenfest Center.

4—Organizes the annual Trail Run Series featuring 4 races across some of the most beautiful local scenery.

5—Sponsors the annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival.

6—Partners with United By Blue for the annual Brandywine River Clean Up. We’ve collected over 5,000 lbs. of trash from the Smith’s Bridge area of the Brandywine River.

7—One of only 100 dealers in the U.S. carrying the new apparel line from Black Diamond.

8—Patagonia Core Dealer – Core Dealers carry the broadest selection of Patagonia product in the nation.

9—The North Face Summit Dealer – There are fewer than 50 stores in the nation that are chosen to be Summit Dealers. Only Summit Dealers can carry Summit Series pieces, the pinnacle styles offered from The North Face.

10—We have an exceptional staff that knows our brands, plays outdoors in the gear we carry and, most importantly, who care about you.

OK, we’re going to come right out and say it. We want you to shop at Trail Creek Outfitters, your local outdoor store, and here’s why.

There is a lot of chatter about buying local and we certainly support that. A local business hires your neighbors, supports your local charities, brings the community together with events such as films and speakers and tries to know your name.

That is all well and good, but if we don’t have the best selection of the best brands, more informed and personable staff, competitive prices and a neat and clean shop, then you should shop elsewhere. We want to fill all of your needs and be a vibrant member of the local economy.

We will continue to strive to meet these high standards. Thank you for the support you have given us for the past 31 years.
