Community and competency emboldens us to push our limits.
Local skier and climber, Arthur Eng, shared wild stories and sage advice gained from years of exposure in the wilderness of North America. He shared important information about how best to safely enjoy the winter months, whether you are a climber, hiker, skier, or mountaineer.
The American Alpine Club– Delaware Chapter and Trail Creek Outfitters teamed up for an evening of discovery, exploration, and entertainment. It was a great night of learning how to advance our winter adventure skills and sipping beer from Victory with our community.

Thanks to all of you who came out for the Demo hike at First State National Park!
Our Sunday Salomon hike was a success! We tested out the X Ultra Mid GTX and the Outline Mid GTX because the trail was quite muddy. Everyone found the waterproofing and breathability to be amazing. We went on a ~3mi hike and stopped to talk about the shoes. Our seasoned hiker employee, Clare, also stopped to talk about the 10 essentials to have in every pack whether it’s a 2 mi or 2000 mi pack (extra food, water and the ability to treat more, extra layers like a rain jacket, emergency shelter, light source and backup batteries, fire starter, multitool, sun protection, first aid kit, and a map/compass). In that realm, we had a discussion about how the best line of defense is to be prepared before you start your hike and to know how to use everything in your pack. Gear you don’t know how to use is useless gear.

Thanks to all who attended! In February, Manzotti and seven other photographers accompanied a Kazakh family on their annual Spring Migration. Every year about 200 families of Kazakh eagle hunters make the arduous five day, 150 km trek through the Altai mountains of Western Mongolia to find better pastures for their herds of horses, camels, goats, sheep, yak and cows. Manzotti immersed herself in the lifestyle, following the herd on foot, averaging about eleven hours of walking per day, and sleeping in traditional tents called gers in frigid weather conditions. Though the journey was challenging, the rewards were simply spectacular.

Thanks to all who donated your gently worn coats and helped us spread warmth again this season! We donated over 80 coats in 2017. Millions of Americans can’t afford coats for their family. To help keep families warm, we held our annual One Warm Coat drive beginning November 24th and went through December 31st. Last year we helped warm communities by donating over 100 coats. As in past years, coats will be donated to the Friendship House in Wilmington, DE.
In 2017, we teamed up with Patagonia and created the Benefit Your Backyard event to donate $5,000 to three local environmental non-profits. The funds were given to us from Patagonia to invest, but just how much each non-profit received was chosen by YOU, our customers. We had a kick-off party + beer tasting which started the voting process: Anyone who purchased a Patagonia product earned a token to vote for three hard-working groups. On November 30th, we tallied the votes and granted The Land Conservancy of Southern Chester County $3,000. Delaware Nature Society and BRC each received $1,000. Thank you to all who participated in the donations and made a difference in our community. Your funds help to preserve and maintain local open spaces, historic sites and natural resources.
