You won’t find a better trail series in the Mid Atlantic.

Every year we host this race series, 100% of the proceeds go to local organizations benefitting from racers signing up and taking on the trail run challenge. We love motivating runners to get out there, but for us, it’s also about supporting community organizations. We’re here to inspire and take local action. This is what keeps us going strong year after year.

In 2017, the race series brought in $60,000+, all benefitting local organizations. Thanks to the runners, and the many sponsors and volunteers, for helping us give back to the community.

Let’s do it again this year!

Chasin for Chalfin: Last Race June 24th

New for 2017:

We have expanded our 2017 Chasin’ for Chalfin race to additionally benefit Lee Lee Jones and Paddy Young. Lee Lee suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in December 2016 and is currently at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation. Once discharged, she will need around-the-clock medical care, as well as copious amounts of therapy, including speech, occupational, and physical. Paddy suffered a TBI on May 20, 2017. A father of 3, he will have extensive medical bills incurred from his hospitalization as well as ongoing medical costs.

Not really into running but want to fundraise? Register as a “FUNDRAISER ONLY” for free on RunReg or visit PledgeReg to make a donation.

Chasin’ for Chalfin was established to help our friend Jake, who was severely injured when he fell at the Blue Ridge Fall Races in Berryville, Virginia, on September 18, 2010. As a result of his extensive injuries, Jake is now paralyzed from the chest down and is facing significant long-term expenses associated with his medical needs.  Our race has evolved over the years and we are now able to share the race proceeds with other individuals needing adaptive equipment, help covering costs of emergency medical needs, and organizations who support individuals with such needs.

Thanks to all who support this great cause!

2016 Funds Raised Through Trail Run Series Helps Local Athlete

Through money raised from Race #5, Velo Amis and Chasin’ for Chalfin got a standing frame for 28-year-old Kurt Lane, a passenger in a car accident that left him paralyzed in November, 2016. Once an active soccer player, hiker, cyclist and runner, Kurt is grateful to friend Jake Chalfin, who visited him in the hospital after the accident. “I was so fortunate to have someone like Jake looking after me,” Kurt says. “He basically became my mentor.”

A week after Kurt left rehab, he discovered he was getting the standing frame. “Jake called and told me he wanted to give back and share the race proceeds with other people who are going through what he is going through,” Kurt says.

For individuals with paralysis, standing frames help them stand throughout the day, rather that stay seated in a wheel chair, and reduce the effects of osteoporosis and assists with blood flow to the legs. How cool is that?

This year the Trail Run Series donated $9,000 to Chasin for Chalfin.

Over the years Chasin’ for Chalfin has evolved and now shares race proceeds with other individuals needing adaptive equipment and organizations who support individuals with such needs. Follow Chasin for Chalfin here. Learn more about this non-profit organization here.

The BRC is the first small watershed association in America, and has provided water protection and environmental education for the Brandywine Valley for over 71 years. Originally named the Brandywine Valley Association (BVA), the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance (BRC) became the organization’s new name in 2015.
